Our experienced pastoras bring spiritual healing and a stronger community by nurturing sisterhood and leadership among women.
One of the greatest silent pandemics of our time is loneliness.
So many people are alone. Some of them even though they are physically surrounded by other people. For women in low-income communities, the isolation is often compounded: immigration status can create fear, language barriers can make community feel impossible, and the demands of work, family, and survival leave little room for friendship.
In the Washington neighborhood of downtown San Jose, many Spanish-speaking women carry the weight of their lives largely without support, without a place to tell the truth about how they’re doing, without spiritual community, and without the experience of being truly known.
No Estas Sola was created because every woman deserves to feel that she is not carrying life alone.
No Estás Sola (“You Are Not Alone”) is a women’s group led by experienced pastoras who bring spiritual care, sisterhood, and community to women in the San Jose area.
The program creates a safe space for women to share about their lives together. Through laughter and tears, they learn to trust each other. They grow spiritually and they gain confidence. As loneliness and fear melt away, they find friendship, strength, and support.
They find that they are truly not alone.
“I’ve been in the No Estás Sola (You Are Not Alone) program since it began. Personally, the program has helped me so much emotionally, as a woman and a mother. Emotionally, it has helped me understand that I have a safe place where I can speak and unburden myself without being judged. It has been my refuge in the most difficult moments of my life. It has also helped me learn so much about God: that He is with me at all times and in all places, and it has helped me build a relationship with God and understand the purpose He has for me and for my life. Through the trials I face day by day, He holds me by the hand and always walks with me. I thank God for placing in my life a place as beautiful as Healing Grove Health Center.”

Community transformation: as women’s lives are transformed, the community is also transformed. Women teach the kids, plan the celebrations, make much of the food and art in the home, and deeply shape local culture
Monday night prayer: devoted to prayer for all who come. These nights have been well-attended, and the Holy Spirit has been present in a powerful way
Spanish-language couples counseling: nearly impossible to find elsewhere, and financially out of reach for most low-income families. Pastora Dania and volunteers are bringing tools for healthier communication and relationships to our community, in Spanish. When parents are getting along, the whole neighborhood experiences peace
CLIENT NOTE: Please provide attendance data, stories from participants, years of operation, and any documented community impact (e.g., relationships repaired, women who moved into leadership roles). A first-person testimonial in Spanish and English would be especially powerful.
$[X]/month sustains one weekly gathering (space, facilitation, materials, and pastoral support) for the full group of women.
$[X] provides Spanish-language couples counseling for one family for one month.
Your gift gives a woman a room where she is not invisible.
